Context:
WFiC recognises FIWFA as the world governing body and enables players to represent Cyprus and participate in competitions such as the FIFWA World Nations Cup
We are committed to asking players from member clubs and clubs that are not members to participate in trials for our representative teams.
Management and playing squad:
WFiC will have one squad and one management team. Squad members will be selected for teams and prepared for matches by the respective team managers.
Following trials on Sunday 8 February, we are delighted to have established a squad of 23 (now 25) players to form teams for Men Over 50 and Men over 70.
There will be regular training sessions for the squad building up to the European Nations Cup in November 2026.

The initial trial session on 8 February was free but players pay €10 for each subsequent session to help cover costs.
WFiC will provide kit for representative matches, subject to an assessment of future requirements.
We hope to develop other teams, including Kicking Cancer (for which we have insufficient qualified players at present), as appropriate.
We would be pleased to hear from players who missed the trial session and are interested in joining the squad. This may involve participation and assessment at a training session and/or assessment in a match environment. Please contact: mediacomms@wfic.com.cy

- Team comprising Men Over 50 and Men Over 70 taking part in tournament with hosts Titans (Crete), and Lymington (UK), 1-2 May 2026

Eligibility:
The following FIFWA World Nations Cup eligibility criteria apply to all our Cyprus representative teams, including Kicking Cancer:
- Nationality/Residence. Players must hold a Cypriot passport or have a valid biometric identity card with 5 years residency as issued by the Republic of Cyprus government: Migration Department website
- Age. Men must be over 50 and Women over 40. Other age group requirements may apply e.g. for tournaments.
- Gender. WFiC allows transgender players to represent WFiC in international competitions
