We are delighted to report that representatives from WFiC met with colleagues from the Cyprus FA at their HQ in Nicosia on 22/07/26 to discuss the development of walking football across Cyprus.
Topics included:
o Review of walking football and the Laws of the Game
o Proposed walking football league competition
o International walking football, including Cyprus FA support for participation in the Europe Nations Cup in November 2026 and World Nations Cup in August 2027
o Training and certification of walking football referees
o Promotion of the game within Cypriot communities.
A Cyprus FA official has been appointed and their first action will be to explore setting up league competition across Cyprus for 2027/28. All known walking football clubs will be approached directly to nominate a representative to attend a meeting in August (or as soon as possible).
